thrifting, foxes, ira & abby

can you believe i'm blogging three days in a row?! i'm on a roll. i think it's because i have actually been having some free time lately. homework hasn't been too bad. since i didn't have to stay up late working on homework, i watched a cute movie last night called ira & abby. it's really a quite funny & scandalous movie. & the main couple is adorable. i rather enjoyed it : ) i've been having time to browse the internet recently too! i have come across this neat site that has free sewing patterns. while looking on the site, i found this adorable halloween costume that a girl put together: fantastic mr. & mrs. fox. now, i haven't really done any outfit posts before, i think because i'm a bit shy about it :] but i wanted to share what i found thrifting today (because i got my homework done early!!). there is a thrift store just down the block on the corner from where i live, which is awesome! i found this top for $0.60 (!!) & a nice nylon bag for $1.40. what kind of bag to you call it? i know there is a name for it...

lastly i want to share this collaboration song that i discovered on g's blog. anyways, i love it & i hope you do to! i'm heading home for the weekend after class tonight. hope your weekend is good!

inside the cabinet of wonder: it was so cute! i have actually made something similar to the little brown paper bag before. i used brown paper & folded it around the end of a small pack of gum & then took it off. so cute! THANKS for the package again!

pizza & packages

i got another package in the mail! this one is from nicola. i love the fairy land envelope my letter was in. & look at the cute little brown paper bag! i also love the socks she sent me : ) i wore them today.lydia (my housemate) & i made pizza from scratch yesterday. the dough recipe was really good. i'll share it with you:

pizza dough
1 pkg. (1/4 oz.) active dry yeast
1 cup warm water
2 Tbs. olive oil
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour

in a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Add the oil, sugar, salt and 2 cups flour. Beat until smooth. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough (dough will be sticky).
turn onto a lightly floured surface; knead until smooth & elastic, about 6-8 minutes. place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease the top. cover & let rest in a warm place for 10 minutes.
divide dough in half. on a floured surface, roll out each portion into a 10-in. circle. transfer to two greased 12-in. pizza pans; build up edges slightly. bake at 425degrees for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
top with your favorite pizza toppings & bake for 10-15 minutes or until cheese is melted. enjoy!p.s. today is my cousin wendy's (the dream catcher maker) birthday! go wish a great one : )

pauline: ohh i love mushrooms too! my friend doesn't really cook with them, but i insisted we try some in the dish. & i'm not too sure what it is called, but we ate it on rolls of bread. we just put garlic, green onion, cilantro, bell pepper, mushrooms, yellow onion, tomatoes, & some olive oil in a pot & cooked it together! haha. very simple, but very good.

fast food

i feel like life is going by way too fast. i can't believe it's already november. i just need to relax & take time to enjoy the simple things in life. like taking time to cook food with a friend.

& enjoy every last bight of delicious desserts like this flan.

p.s. my birthday is this month!!! i'm so excited : )

dream art

wow. i've been gone for a long time! i have been so busy with life & grad school lately. the past few weeks have also been kind of an emotional rollercoaster. but now there is a little break so i get to post & visit all of your lovely blogs!
i attended an art museum grand opening a few weeks ago. a lot of the art was breathtaking & beautiful. & some of the frames were art just in themselves.i got a package in the mail from my uberly (is that even a word?) creative cousin wendy. she sent me a cute owl deck of cards, florence & the machine, & a brilliant dream catcher that she made!! anyways, it's so neat & hanging from my ceiling right now. she's made quite a few so far & she is planning to open an etsy shop soon so if you like what you see, i'll let you know when it's open!

it's been raining all morning & i LOVE it. it makes me so happy : ) i just feel like curling up in bed & watching a movie now...

maria: oh yes! umm i'm not too sure about six year olds, but i know popsicle/craft sticks are super fun! you can make houses, boxes, photo frames, basically anything with them & then paint what you make.

fun times

i got a package in the mail from shelby this weekend! i was so surprised & flattered when she contacted me a few weeks ago telling me that she found a candle "that screams lina" at the market & wanted to send it to me. i was so excited & surprised : ) well, she sent me a fabulous package with much more than just a candle! although i must say, i LOVE the candle. isn't it awesome? owls are so cool.she added a fortune telling fish....looks like i am passionate? hehe.& one of the things that i am so excited about is the notebook she sent me. it's a notebook that i actually saw at target & wanted right away. now i have it! it's from the line that john derian is doing for target right now. i love all of his things!these glasses are so fun : )i'll leave you with a few photos from my arts & crafts class i taught on monday. they successfully finished their moulds & deckles for papermaking! next class - start making paper!
