Graded Work

Well, the semester has truly begun. I am the receiver of my first sample of graded work. Not too shabby I must say. Let's hope the rest of the semester has such luck. My first Spanish exam 94%, which is barely an A, surprisingly. Yeah, a 93% would have been an A- and a 92% a B+. Crazy university grading.

PHLAGLEBLAST!!

Today was Phlagleblast at the University Union building. I had heard of it for a while because of the posters all over campus, but I didn't really know what it was. So, today when I went to University Union I was handed a game paper to play. I sat down and pondered if I wanted to play for about ten minutes. Then I just went for it. Basically you go to different stations and get your paper stamped. At each of the stations you get all kinds of free prizes, gifts, and information about the particular service offered at that station. After you get your whole sheet stamped, you turn it in for a chance to win one of six big prizes like an iPod touch or an Xbox. I am so happy I decided to play because I had fun and I got a bunch of cool free things like a highlighter, a sharpie, a CD, and Kleenex.

Afterwards, I stopped to listen to this band that was playing in the Union called Judgement Day. They are amazing!

Train Station

I just thought that I would share some pictures of the train station with all you out there because I think it is beautiful, especially the ceiling. A lot of things about it seemed old and glamorous.

Home Sweet Home

I'm coming home today! It's been a long week and I already have papers due among other homework. Right now I am waiting for my only class today to begin at 1:30. Then it's off to the train station and home.

Yesterday I went around the different club booths outside the library. There are mostly fraternities and sororities. I stopped by the Students for Social Change booth and signed up for their mailing list. I'm planning to attend a film showing and discussion they are hosting next week. I also took a flyer for Christians on Campus, but I didn't join their club...at least not yet.

Soon I'll be home and hopefully enjoying a nice restful weekend with homework.

Day 1

Well, the first day of school went quite well. My first class was Advanced Spanish Grammar. I have not had a Spanish class since, I believe, my last semester of high school, so I was a little worried about how that would go. It turned out OK because I understood just about everything said in class.

During my 31/2 hour break i worked on my Spanish homework (yes homework on the first day) in the 5 story library. University libraries are a little creepy and big. The shelves are quite numerous, row after row, and are home to billions of musty smelling books. It's also eerily quite.

Also during my break I had a nice little dinner of trail mix and an energy bar. (pictured)

My last class for the day was Human Behavior. This class looks like it will be a lot of work, but well worth it. It is really interesting and there are a lot of fun people in the class. The professor is quite funny and had the whole class laughing hysterically. The class got out early as many classes do the first week of school and I was home by 9:15PM.

If some of you don't know, I am staying at the home of a very nice German lady by the name of Lydia. She and her dog Bo Bo and cat Little Boy live quite contently about 3 miles from campus. She talks with an accent and likes to watch The Young and the Restless.
