sick in bed

i'm sick in bed today with a sore throat & headache. i had some nice peppermint tea & an onion bagel this morning & for lunch my mom is making me some soup. i love being babied at home sometimes now that i live away from home most days of the week.

since i've had some time on my hands today, i've found some really neat moleskine art. i have a moleskine & write in it almost daily, but im not sure if i could do something so creative! you can check them all out here. & here are some of my favorites:

red & white

i got this idea of wrapping my gifts in white butcher paper & red yarn from cakies. i really like how they turned out!

making christmas

it has been raining a lot lately. i love the rain. especially when it pitter-pats on my window:

this year, my family almost didn't have a chrismas tree or any decorations. we keep all of our christmas decorations in the attic, and since we just finished remodeling the house, we had many boxes in front of the way to get to the attic (through my closet).

so, our lovely friends, let us borrow one of their fake trees and lights. but, we still needed some ornaments. the blog kiddet gave me the idea of using paper cranes as ornaments! so that's what i did. i think they turned out lovely:then we used a beautiful red tablecloth for a tree skirt & some novelties around the house as ornaments too. i even found this vintage ornament in a thrift store fee box:
since we weren't feeling much in the christmas mood before we had a tree, my papi took us to a house full of lights. it even had a mini ferris wheel!
i hope you & your family a lovely holiday!

first day of winter

well, today is the first official day of winter! i know that many of us will be going out to parties around this time, whether it be for christmas or new year's, & i found this list of holiday conversation starters i thought i would share. (they are more for the reader's enjoyment, so use them at your own risk!)
  • what do i look like upside down? say this when you have nothing left to say.
  • how long have you been owned by a cat? say this to someone covered in cat fur.
  • what's that floating in your eggnog? say this to someone after you discreetly drop a little bit of cookie crumb in their eggnog.
  • are you double-jointed? if they answer yes, ask them to demonstrate for you.
  • what's your favorite holiday color? everyone usually says red or green, pink is way better.
  • can i wear your sweater? say this to someone wearing a nicer sweater than you.
  • when's the last time you were spit up on by a baby? say this when your squishy baby needs to be burped.
  • why aren't you wearing those earmuffs i gave you last year? come on, you want to know right?

all i want is you

today, jelissa will be my third friend from high school to get married. what gets me is that all three of those friends are younger than me. that makes me feel weird. anyways, this song is for jelissa and her new husband:

If i was a flower growing wild and free
All i'd want is you to be my sweet honey bee.
And if i was a tree growing tall and greeen
All i'd want is you to shade me and be my leaves
All i want is you, will you be my bride
Take me by the hand and stand by my side
All i want is you, will you stay with me?
Hold me in your arms and sway me like the sea.
If you were a river in the mountains tall,
The rumble of your water would be my call.
If you were the winter, i know i'd be the snow
Just as long as you were with me, let the cold winds blow
All i want is you, will you be my bride
Take me by the hand and stand by my side
All i want is you, will you stay with me?
Hold me in your arms and sway me like the sea.
If you were a wink, i'd be a nod
If you were a seed, well i'd be a pod.
If you were the floor, i'd wanna be the rug
And if you were a kiss, i know i'd be a hug
All i want is you, will you be my bride
Take me by the hand and stand by my side
All i want is you, will you stay with me?
Hold me in your arms and sway me like the sea.
If you were the wood, i'd be the fire.
If you were the love, i'd be the desire.
If you were a castle, i'd be your moat,
And if you were an ocean, i'd learn to float.
All i want is you, will you be my bride
Take me by the hand and stand by my side
All i want is you, will you stay with me?
Hold me in your arms and sway me like the sea.

Isaiah

For I am the Lord your God,
who takes hold of your right hand
and says to you,
Do not fear;
I will help you
I will strengthen you,
though you have not acknowledged me.
I have made you and I will carry you.
I will not forget you!
See, I have engraved you
on the palms of my hands.

some nice words

"I can't stop thinking about you."
"I love conversations that start with the guy saying 'I can't stop thinking about you!'"
"Just looking at you makes me happy."
"I have to sit down."

It's hard, I think, to find people in the world you love more than your family.

You smiling at me makes my day.

Happiness is only real when shared.

This is what I saw on my way to the train station earlier this week. All I had was my camera phone, so it's a little small. But, isn't it incredible?

Graded Work

Well, the semester has truly begun. I am the receiver of my first sample of graded work. Not too shabby I must say. Let's hope the rest of the semester has such luck. My first Spanish exam 94%, which is barely an A, surprisingly. Yeah, a 93% would have been an A- and a 92% a B+. Crazy university grading.

PHLAGLEBLAST!!

Today was Phlagleblast at the University Union building. I had heard of it for a while because of the posters all over campus, but I didn't really know what it was. So, today when I went to University Union I was handed a game paper to play. I sat down and pondered if I wanted to play for about ten minutes. Then I just went for it. Basically you go to different stations and get your paper stamped. At each of the stations you get all kinds of free prizes, gifts, and information about the particular service offered at that station. After you get your whole sheet stamped, you turn it in for a chance to win one of six big prizes like an iPod touch or an Xbox. I am so happy I decided to play because I had fun and I got a bunch of cool free things like a highlighter, a sharpie, a CD, and Kleenex.

Afterwards, I stopped to listen to this band that was playing in the Union called Judgement Day. They are amazing!
